The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Dunedin, is offering a special service, understanding that Christmas can be difficult emotionally for many people. This service of lessons, songs and meditations is a thoughtful celebration of the birth of Christ. Although offered especially for those who are grieving, or for whom the holidays are difficult, all are welcome to an evening of solemn joy.
The rector of the church, Becky Robbins-Penninman writes, "During our time together, we will hear several beloved passages from scripture that tell the story God's plan for the healing and salvation of all Creation. After each lesson, the pastor will have a brief reflection, with time given for individual meditation and candle-lighting, then we'll pray and sing a well-known carol. The celebration of Holy Communion follows, in which everyone is invited to participate, regardless of their denominational heritage - if any.
