History Comes Alive: Zora Neale Hurston Portrayal

Florida Humanities Scholar, actor and poet, Phyllis McEwen, will present a portrayal of Zora Neale Hurston, an influential figure in African-American literature, in conjunction with the Journey Stories exhibit at the Dunedin Historical Museum.

Zora's life and accomplishments truly illustrate a journey story.  Born on January 7, 1891, in Notasulga, AL, Hurston moved with her family to Eatonville, FL, when she was still a toddler. Zora's childhood experiences in Eatonville provided the launching pad for her prolific writing career that spanned more than 30 years.
