Oktoberfest Kicks Off Thursday at Dunedin Brewery

Dunedin's oldest brewery kicks off Oktoberfest with OktoBEERfest Thursday with food, live music, Litersteins and beer. Here's a glance at Dunedin Brewery's party and a roundup of other festivities around Dunedin this month.

Dunedin is well known for its beer.

It is home to two popular craft breweries and a craft beer bar voted among the 100 best in the nation. So it comes as no surprise that Dunedin celebrates its own take on the German Oktoberfest tradition.

Many Oktoberfest events are planned throughout Dunedin, but none is as widely-attended as Dunedin Brewery's three-day street party celebrated every first weekend in October.

And it's appropriately named for what it's really all about: OktoBEERfest.

Dunedin Brewery marks off the outside parking lot with tents, food, live music and, of course, beer.
