No Passport Needed! Club Med Sandpiper Bay, the Only All-Inclusive Resort In the U.S.

Just a three-hour drive from here is a secluded resort that offers a superb vacation for families or adults!

My husband Sam and I just spent the weekend at the Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie, FL. This resort is the only all-inclusive resort in the entire United States. You wouldn’t know that you haven’t been whisked away to a tropical island somewhere though, it was gorgeous!

They are just finishing up a complete renovation project and the quality is top-notch. This particular Club Med is primarily a family resort, however, we enjoyed ourselves and for the most part found peace and quiet throughout the property. For adults wanting to get away, they offer an adult dining area in The Marketplace dining room and an adult only “Calm Pool,” situated alongside the beautiful bay. The morning yoga class on the deck of this pool, with the cool breeze and the sun pouring down provided a very spiritual start to my days.

The accommodations are nicely decorated in a colorful, contemporary and austere motif. The bedding is luscious, the rooms all have balconies, hair dryers, irons and boards and toiletries. Flat screen televisions and phones are also in all rooms. Wifi is offered for a nominal fee. In addition to the standard one bedroom rooms, they offer two bedroom rooms for families with children.

The dining room is buffet/food stations, so you do help yourself. However once you get your food and are seated, there is wait staff to make sure you have everything you need. The food was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised to see many healthy choices offered. There is both outdoor and indoor dining, however you may need to reserve an outside table for dinner. The house wines were decent and the bar offered mid-line name brands as opposed to the well brands served by many
island resorts.

There are four pools, the adult pool, main pool, a lap pool and the kiddie pool at the mini water park. If you like the beach, they have that too, along with jet skis, canoes, wind surfing and more. Some water activities require an added fee. They do offer a kid’s club called Mini Club Med, as well as babysitting. The children’s area also has a mini tennis court, putting area, soccer field and trapeze nets. Yes, trapeze, harnessed and safe, the kids (and adults) were loving it!

The standout feature of this Club Med is the academies; tennis, golf and fitness academies where the instructors are professionals or certified in their field. The tennis facility is impressive, by anyone’s standards. Included is a daily group lesson, based on your level, as well as a round robin tournament every afternoon. Open court time is complimentary and is first come first served. The golf pros also offer a daily group lesson and  scramble “tournaments” on select days. Otherwise, there is a very nominal fee to play the 18-hole course. The gym is complete with weights, cardio machines and fitness classes, offered throughout the day. Sandpiper Bay is a perfect place for a tennis, golf or fitness weekend with your friends. Private lessons can be arranged.

Club Med Sandpiper Bay impressed us as one of the nicest all-inclusive resorts we have been to. It is a perfect place for family reunions or a couple’s weekend (or week) away. They also offer conference facilities for incentive or business travel. No passport and no plane tickets make this an easy choice for Floridians. You will be impressed with the property, quality of service and value. Call your travel agent, if you’d like more information on Club Med Sandpiper Bay!
