I'm a bit curious...

What would your thoughts be if you just arrived home from a hard day’s work, and went to get the mail from the box on the curb; only to be harassed by a group of pre-teen boys with a parental guardian present, egging them on?

Would you call the non-emergency line to report it, or confront it on your own?  (that’s up to you)

So imagine your property and self-safety is compromised and left unprotected when you’re away!  I have this same situation... should I peruse this adolescence immaturity or deal with it as it comes at me?  Surely it’s too close for comfort!

Hands down the three most important people in my life pulled a study, with their group of friends currently around and unanimously answered yes!  What if something escalated more serious than words, even in the future at least it’s reported?!

Well I did... but now regret that move because it was quickly dismissed and now can’t be reported... the operator was rude and dismissive to the situation and questions I had.  This was just by me simply asking if the call was appropriate to the non-emergency number, and wanted a record of the situation in case of that specific event of escalated violence.  I simply felt my safety was compromised… that’s all!  I was just simply at my own home and property to safely collect my mail.  Should I continue to fear to collect my mail?  (That’s surely not going to happen!)

I asked questions like…  “What I should I have done?”, to “What can be done about future confrontations?”!  Simple questions, but she treated me like I was an imbecile.    I guess stepping out into the street to grab my daily mail makes me a target for criticism from public, and it was acceptable - I should simply accept it – I think NOT!  I will not go down lightly and believe in my thoughts and opinions as much as the rest of you that this is unacceptable behavior for my taxes that are paid!

There are just simply some stories we just need to share, sadly this is a daily basis for criticism for most of us that none of us do - and all our lives we’ve learned to simply deal with this!  I stand aside no more!!!

Maybe I would have been walking my dog or grabbing a drink with friends, and the confrontation should be brought to me on the streets of Dunedin, FL.  I assume then that the fact those juveniles and the adults that simply walk away, that I do not know, should get away with their ignorant opinions?  This is acceptable behavior I presume?!  (I think not – but have no leg to stand on as the operator told me I don’t personally know them, but they stand on the same corner everyday between 5 – 6 PM)

Just simply that I did not know them, or their names, but they hang on the same corner of Locklie and Louden Avenue between the hours of 5 – 6 every day was not acceptable enough.  When has injustice become so bitter to patrol our community and make it safe for every resident?

I mean we all pay taxes one way or another and the police departments do work for the public – just not the way I felt after speaking with this representative from our community.  She was very dismissive towards this great community that we all try to keep lively and diverse.  Should any of us express our opinions or concerns about our community, toward this the type of person that is supposed to be on the front line!  (I have to admit, I was extremely pleasant – and am a big boy, can handle my own situation – if I were to confront these juveniles in anger, I’d have been behind bars easily!)

I simply can’t stand for ignorance any longer, or injustice.

What if something did escalate into a more serious matter… apparently there was anger geared towards a hate crime, and nothing was being done to prevent it.

Just simply concerned….
