5 Things to Know Today: Wednesday, Jan. 11

Grab your umbrella, plus four other things that connect you with what's up in the community today.

1) What to wear? Break out your umbrellas if you're susceptible to melting. We're supposed to anticipate showers and a possible thunderstorm today, according to the National Weather Service. Our high is near 74 with wind gusts growing stronger throughout the day. Tonight's low is 57.

2) Need to fill up on the cheap? The lowest reported gas price in Dunedin is $3.35 at , 466 Patricia Ave, on TampaGasPrices.com.

3) If you participated in our holiday lights contest to try and win $100,000 for Pinellas County Schools, we'd like to thank you for your vote! Although we did not win the $100,000 prize, the Banacki family in Palm Harbor will receive $500 toward their electric bill because of your participation. Thanks so much!

4) Commissioners liked the direction of the Dunedin Causeway's future development and building codes. City staff presented a plan to amend codes so that future buildings may only have storage and parking on the ground level, drive-thrus can't be visible from the street, and structures are built to be pedestrian-friendly and have a uniform appearance — sort of its own unique district, like a downtown, but with a character and look of its own.

5) The Greater Dunedin Little League for the spring season. If you'd like to help contact Kevin Stine, umpire-in-chief, at kstine1@tampabay.rr.com.
