Dunedin Paints Itself Pink

All the gals are getting together for pink-themed Breast Cancer Awareness Month events.

Prepare to be pinked.

Dunedin is decking itself out in the color, from to Causeway Plaza, starting this week, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Thursday

: Women get free health screenings; they can ask a physician their health questions; win prizes; and watch Zumba, Nia demonstrations and live music downtown. Morton Plant Mease's second annual event focuses on and celebrates women's health and education; ; Free; 6 to 8 p.m.

: Participating downtown merchants are offering pink-themed food and drinks, raffles and entertainment for shoppers, with proceeds of sales benefiting Morton Plant Mease's Mammography Voucher Program. The program provides free breast cancer screening services to women who do not have health insurance; Downtown; Free to attend; 5 to 9 p.m.; 727-736-6276.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Cricketer’s Cut Cancer Out Parking Lot Party: hosts a weekend-long parking lot party to stamp out cancer. There'll be a beer truck, lots of live music and prizes all weekend. Proceeds benefit the Children's Cancer Center of Tampa and a local family. Raffle tickets are on sale now ($5 each, or five for $20); Cricketer's, Causeway Plaza. The agenda:

  • Friday: Rock out to Crossroads (8 p.m.) and get your 10-inch-plus ponytail cut free for Locks of Love and/or Angel Hair (from 6 'til they run out of hair).
  • Saturday: Get in on the dunk tank contest, live bands and prizes for kids and adults (Leaf at 3 p.m.; Strange Brew at 8 p.m.)
  • Sunday: Participate in the Dunedin Causeway Cancer Walk starting at 4:30 p.m. (The Stick Martin Show at 3 p.m.; Full Fledged Unit at 8 p.m.)
