5 Things to Know Today: Thursday, Jan. 26

Go to the fair, track exotics, music video in town and more.

1) What to wear? Today will start with patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, expect a mostly sunny day with a high near 78. Tonight after 1 a.m. there is a 30 percent chance of showers with a low around 64, according to the National Weather Service.

3) Want to go the fair? Well, the Florida State Fair does not start until next month, but Dunedin has its own information fair for seniors tomorrow (Jan. 27) from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Senior Awareness Fair at the offers information from more than 75 organizations on living wills, medical supplies, and senior exercise programs. No charge for the fair. Free lunch provided.

4) Do you know how to track exotic species? Use the free IveGot1 app to report sightings of Brazilian peppers, Burmese pythons and other invasive and exotic plants and wildlife that cause damage to Florida. Photograph the exotic and its location then send the information to wildlife officials with the help of the app.

5) Are you going to participate in the Funedin lip dub music video on Sunday (Jan. 29)? Several business owners are making a music video to promote the city. They need volunteers to lip-synch to “Shiny Happy People.” The filming will be on Main Street between Douglas Avenue and Broadway between 8 and 11 a.m.
