Fundraiser Gala Showcases Local Artists, Raises Money for Public Parks & Recreation

"Harbor Nights," CSA Palm Harbor's newest fundraising event, will bring added dollars to improve park facilities and keep program costs low for residents.

PALM HARBOR, FL – The Centre of Palm Harbor will open its doors later this month for its newest event, “Harbor Nights.” The event, designed to help fundraise for the community service association managing public recreation facilities, will include a full bar, live music and a local artist gallery.

The theme for the inaugural event is “Community Masterpieces: Where Art Takes Many Forms,” and will feature a local artists gallery showcasing the many forms of art found in our community. Along with the gallery will be a silent auction, cash bar and live jazz music by Mike MacArthur.

Clayton Swartz, a Miami native who grew up in Pinellas County, will be the featured artist this year. Among those in the gallery are animal sculptor Joyce Curvin and pastel artist Lorraine Potocki. Several others will also be present, including a collection of train art, a lightning bolt photographer and a quilter.

Proceeds benefit the organization’s mission to provide low-cost recreation programs and camps to the community, as well as maintaining the four sport complexes it manages.

CSA Palm Harbor is unique, as it is not a typical parks and recreation department. The organization is part of a municipal service tax district, not a local city, as Palm Harbor is an incorporated community. Therefore, only a portion of its budget is brought in through tax revenue. The remainder is up to the organization to raise.
