With all the talk about Dunedin being a “pet friendly” town, we certainly did not see it when we tried to rent a house with 2 dogs. We found that although restaurants and businesses seemed to let dog owners bring their pets into the shops, it stopped there. Realtors and property owners seemed to make a lucrative business out of extravagant pet fees, if they were open to it, at all. We fell in love with Dunedin, but being pet people we experienced Dunedin to be a “pet friendly” town, in name only. It was sad for us to have to leave, as we wanted to make Dunedin our home town. However, profiteers, and people that are pet friendly in theory only, caused us to look elsewhere.
