Library at Community Center Offers Materials, Story Time

Visit the Friends' Branch of the Dunedin Public Library this week.

Did you know that Dunedin Public Library has a lovely Branch location? The Friends’ Branch of the Library is located at the at 1920 Pinehurst (corner of Pinehurst and Michigan) in Dunedin.

The great thing about the Branch is that we keep all new materials there for your checkout enjoyment.

If you live near the Branch, you will love that you can have materials from all over the county, and even inter-library loans, sent to the Branch for pickup. You can also have the convenience of returning materials from all over the county right at the Branch.

We have a nice collection of fiction, non-fiction, music, movies, audio books and children’s materials. The Branch houses an especially nice large print collection — most of which are new releases. You can find fliers publicizing our programming for the main Library. The librarian can show you where you can locate a list of best sellers. You can sign up for a Library card that is good for the whole county. When you walk in the Community Center, look to your immediate right, we are located directly next to the workout room.

The hours for the Branch are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m. and Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. Stop in and take a look at all the Branch has to offer!

Also at the Dunedin Community Center during the school year, the Library offers “Tiny Tales” story time the first Tuesday of every month at 11 a.m.  Geared toward children ages 5 and under, a librarian reads stories, performs finger plays and songs and offers a cute, simple thematic craft to complete the story time. No registration is required. The story time this September is “Favorite Folktales.” You’ll find us in the Kids’ Room just near the playground.

With our nations' urgent need to overhaul the health care system and each persons' need to deal withRead More increasing health care costs/decreasing quality of care, volunteering for SHINE could be part of the answer. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make postive changes for yourself and others. If, like me, you feel frustrated with the FL Legislature which seems to be working against us rather than for us; volunteering with organizations that educate the public in essential areas of concern can be an effective way to create grassroots changes. SHINE offers exceptional training and effectively updates it's volunteers regarding changes in the healthcare system. Sign up for thier training and you're sure to want to pass on what you learn to others.
