Library to Close Temporarily for Renovations

The Library will be closing for new carpeting and new electrical outlets in the floor.

The Dunedin Public Library will be closing to have new carpeting installed the week of Oct. 13 until reopening Oct. 20. We will also be getting new trenching for electrical outlets on the floor when the carpet gets changed out.  While the main Library will be closed, the Friends’ Branch Library at the Community Center on Pinehurst and Michigan will be opened extended hours for patrons’ convenience. The extended hours for that week only will be:

  • Monday: 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday: 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Story times will not be held during that week. Please put any materials that you have out into the drop boxes either on the building by the Reading Garden or the drop box located in the parking lot with a drive-through access during that week.

During the closure, Library staff will still be working in other parts of the building.  Due to the trenching and dust, the Library will not be accessible to the public.  Please make a note on your calendars to take care of any Library business before we close on Friday, Oct.12 at 4:30 p.m.

Walk-to-School Day is an internationally recognized day that happens annually here at the Dunedin Public Library. This year it occurs on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Dunedin Elementary School kids will meet here in the parking lot at 7:15 a.m. to gather and enjoy seeing local big trucks, meet with representatives from the sheriff’s department and fire department and also see some famous mascots hanging out before everybody walks to school together.

The annual Library Volunteer Luncheon is Friday, Oct. 19 at noon. We are glad so many people choose to volunteer at the Library. What do volunteers do here?  Some times they shelve materials, some times they work in the bookstore, some times they sit at the desk and accept materials from patrons. What ever they are doing, we appreciate all that they do to make our Library run smoothly and be the best place it can be!

It seemed to me that many patrons are looking for biographies to read this week.  A great choice! Come in and check out a biography to enjoy.
