What’s Going on at the Library: Week of July 16

Come to the Dunedin Public Library this summer for some great book recommendations!

If you ever want a recommendation for a great book to read — just ask a librarian!

If you want to see if a book would be right for your child — here is a website I can recommend: http://childrensbookalmanac.com/. It’s a site that every day has something to say about particular children’s books.

You can even back up to last week or read ahead.  Have you ever wondered what Little House on the Prairie is all about, or why you should care?  Check out the http://childrensbookalmanac.com/ and stay informed!

Speaking of book recommendations, come visit the Adult Reference Department at the Dunedin Public Library and see some good book reviews up on our board. Many of our adult patrons have graciously reviewed books and have written out cards we put up for everyone to get their recommendations for a good summer read. It’s a good place to get some inspiration, too. You can see who has won the gift cards for the Adult Summer Reading program so far.

Tuesday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. the Adult Department will host author and dream expert, Jan Golden for a . Let her teach you how to remember, record, and use dreams to conquer fears, boost creativity, and show off your wild side! Bring a pencil and paper; no registration required.

For the Teens and Children we are showing movies this week.  The Teens will see an '80s movie about science that ends up weird on Tuesday, July 17 at 5 p.m. We will be showing a new release family movie about monster puppets, and a martial arts demonstration on Sunday, July 22 with the movie starting at 2 p.m. and the demonstration to follow.

Our summer reading programs are going full force until the end of July. Kids – make sure to put a request in for the Sunshine State Readers for the Battle of the Books! Lots of students have started early and the request list might seem long, but it’s the fastest way to get these books from your Library!
