'Best Barbecue' Competition Celebrates 100 Years of Dunedin Firefighters

Dunedin Fire Department is inviting the public to put the best of Dunedin's barbecue to a vote during its big 100-year birthday bash on Sept. 21.

Who's got the best barbecue in town?

That's for you to decide during a side-by-side comparison at Edgewater Park on Saturday, Sept. 21.

The Dunedin Fire Department is inviting the public to put it to a vote during its big 100-year anniversary barbecue bash from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The firefighters are planning a family-friendly event with food, games, and a live music lineup that includes One Sun, Danielle Mohr and the Dunedin Pipe Band. They'll be bringing out their antique fire truck, says Erich Thiemann, division chief of training for Dunedin Fire Department in a City of Dunedin TV spot.

Folks wishing to sample and vote on barbecue from around Dunedin pay a $20 ticket, which entirely benefits the Firefighter Cancer Support Network. Local participants include:

  • Dunedin Brewery
  • Dunedin Smokehouse
  • Flanagan's Irish Pub
  • Eddie's Bar & Grill
  • Eli's Bar-B-Que
  • Kelly's
  • Olde Bay Cafe
