Scooter Driver Killed in Bayshore Crash

A 26-year-old man died after a head-on collision at Bayshore Boulevard and Baywood Drive North on Friday night.

A man on a motor scooter received fatal injuries in a head-on crash Friday night on Bayshore Boulevard.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office:

Alex Gregory Lynam, 26, was driving his scooter south on Bayshore around 10:30 p.m. Shirley A. Gil, 73, was driving north. When Gil began to turn left at Baywood Drive North, Lynam's 2008 ZLMI Scooter crashed head-on into Gil's 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis.

Lynam, who was wearing a helmet, received a head injury and multiple fractures. He was taken by air to Bayfront Medical Center, where he died about an hour later.

Gil was not injured and showed no signs of impairment, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash is under investigation.
