Dunedin Man Charged with Sexual Battery of a Minor

A Dunedin man was charged with sexual battery of a 5-year-old child on Wednesday, March 29.

Daryl L. Stevenson, 33, who lives on Dogwood Court, is a registered sex offender, Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives report.

Detectives said the investigation began Tuesday evening, after the victim's mother reported to deputies that Stevenson sexually abused her daughter.

According to deputies, the 5-year-old girl told her mother and another family member that the suspect sexually abused her while they were alone together in his home between 8 and 10 a.m. on Monday, March 28.

Stevenson admitted to the allegations, according to detectives.

He has been charged with one felony count of sexual battery of a victim under 12 and taken to Pinellas County Jail, according to detectives.

Deputies reported that Stevenson was not on probation or under any restrictions for his prior convictions and that he was in compliance with Florida sexual offender registration laws at the time of his arrest Wednesday at approximately 10:45 a.m.

Detectives believe he may have other victims. Detectives ask anyone with information about Stevenson to call Detective Jennifer Zinge at 727-582-6200.
