Dunedin Resident Involved in Serious Alcohol-Related Crash

An early-morning crash on April 1 sends a Clearwater man to Bayfront Medical Center.

A Clearwater man was flown to Bayfront Medical Center after a two-car, head-on collision in Dunedin early Friday, April 1. Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies said alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Deputies said that 21-year-old Alexx Camacho of Dunedin, was traveling northbound on Patricia Avenue in a 1998 Hyundai Sonata and tried to beat the red light while turning west onto Beltrees Street. Camacho then crashed head-on into a northbound 1991 Dodge Spirit shortly before 4 a.m., according to deputies.

Timothy Bergthold, 20, a passenger in the Dodge Spirit, incurred serious fractures to his face. The driver of the Dodge Spirit, 27-year-old Brandi Berarducci of Seminole, and Camacho were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to deputies.
