Dunedin Youth Volunteer Arrested in Sex Crime

Steven J. Andrews, 29, faces three counts of sexual performance by a child. He is reportedly a volunteer at two Dunedin schools.

A Dunedin man is charged with paying a 12-year-old girl for sexual performances, authorities report.

Steven James Andrews, 29, volunteers at both and and is a part-time employee at the Child's Nest Daycare Center in Tampa, according to a release from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

According to deputies, Andrews paid the girl $100 to pose for pictures wearing different outfits and appearing “bound and gagged” while at a private residence in North Pinellas County on at least three occasions between August 2011 and February 2012.

Authorities are unsure of how much money the girl received.

Deputies said the girl’s mother reported the crimes upon learning of them Feb. 5.

Andrews is charged with three counts of sexual performance by a child and is being held on $30,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
