A man who tried to save a family in distress became a victim as he drowned off of Honeymoon Island Sunday, BayNews9.com reports.

Based on information from the Department of Environmental Protection and a witness, a family had strayed offshore too far Sunday when they were caught up in a current and began motioning for help.
