A Dunedin man was arrested Thursday in connection with a sexual battery that occurred in early December, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

In December, Shakoor met the victim, who has a readily apparent intellectual disability, at a mall while she was with her friends. He asked her for her name, address and phone number, which she gave him.

A few days later, Shakoor went to the victim’s house at night, knocked on her bedroom window and asked her to come watch TV with him.

The victim left her home without telling anyone and went with Shakoor to an undisclosed location in Dunedin, where investigators say he sexually battered her several times. She left and called a family member to pick her up.

The victim was taken to the hospital, and her clothing was processed for evidence. The test results on the evidence arrived Thursday and confirmed Shakoor’s involvement, detectives report.

Detectives believe Shakoor may have targeted other women with intellectual disabilities. They ask anyone with information call Detective Amy Plourde at 727-582-6200.

The investigation is ongoing.
