Patch Editor Gears Up For Firefighter Water Rescue Training

Dunedin Patch editor Katie Dolac takes a jump into Dunedin Marina Thursday morning alongside north county firefighters in water rescue training.

Dunedin Patch editor Katie Dolac takes a jump into Dunedin Marina Thursday morning alongside north county firefighters in water rescue training.

The Dunedin Fire Department is joined by firefighters from Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor, East Lake, Oldsmar and Safety Harbor for training in safety and survival skills at marinas. The trainings are set for twice a day from Aug. 14-16 at Dunedin Municipal Marina and again Aug. 20-22.

Tim Pilson, training chief for Palm Harbor Fire Rescue, helped Dolac "bunker up" and guided her through a firefighter training exercise teaching them how to recover if a firefighter happens to slip into the water during a rescue operation.

Special thanks to Pilson for filming Dolac's entire descent and to Tyler Sontag of SpeedRacer Photos for shooting still photography.
