Two Dogs Rescued from House Fire

Dunedin firefighters extinguished a house fire on San Helen Drive.

Two dogs were rescued from a house fire Wednesday, Dunedin fire officials report.

A shortage in the refrigerator cord caused a fire that began in the living room of a single-family home on the 1600 block of San Helen Drive shortly before 11 a.m. on Oct. 26, fire officials report.

A plant operator Gary Nottke from nearby had partially extinguished the flames with a garden hose when firefighters arrived on the scene, Bill McElligott, Dunedin fire chief, reports.

"Nottke ran over and yelled to see if anyone was home. He didn't hear any voices, but he heard dogs barking," according to Bay News 9.

The two dogs inside the home were unharmed and returned to some family friends on the scene, fire officials report.
