Arbor Day Tree Giveaway Is Saturday

This is the 24th year of Dunedin's tree giveaway. There will be flowering trees, including magnolias, and shade trees.

Plant a tree (or two), courtesy of the City of Dunedin.

In celebration of Arbor Day, the city will be giving away two trees for free per household, in three-gallon pots. You need to provide proof of residency to get a tree. A driver license or utility bill will work.

The giveaway is Saturday at 8 a.m., and lasts until the last tree is given away. Quantities are limited, so get to the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, 373
Douglas Ave., as early as you can.

Trees aren't just lovely to look at, they help bring down utility bills, providing shade for Florida homes and keeping temperatures down.

So, go hug a tree. Better yet, plant one first, courtesy of the city of Dunedin. Mother Nature will thank you for it.

For more information, please call (727) 812-4530. If you aren't an expert at planting trees, the city will have literature available explaining how to properly plant and care for young trees.
