City Candidates Qualify, Campaign Season Begins

Two of three incumbents are challenged in the 2012 city commission race after the qualifying period ended Monday.

Campaign season has officially kicked off for four city candidates.

The qualifying period for those vying for three potential seats ended at noon Monday.

Commissioner Julie Scales was left unopposed, which automatically gets her another term in Commission Seat No. 1.

Two other seats are up for grabs. Dunedin's former mayor Bob Hackworth is challenging Mayor Dave Eggers, and Commissioner David Carson is running opposed by Heather Gracy for seat No. 3.

Dunedin holds its non-partisan election alongside the national, state and county elections on Nov. 6.
