County Budget Meeting: Where do you Want Your Tax Dollars Spent?

County Commissioners will host two budget meetings to gather the public's views on next year's budget.

It’s that time of year when county commissioners will look at the county’s budget and make cuts that can impact you. Here’s your chance to let them know what services are most important to you.

How do you want your tax dollars spent? Is it with county parks, social services, low-income housing, or homeless prevention programs?

Pinellas County commissioners will be looking at the 2011 budget, which has a predicted deficit of $21.5 million. This is the fifth year the county has had to make changes due to budget deficits. They will examine programs supported by the general fund.

Commissioners are asking for the public input during this process. To give all county citizens a chance to share their opinions about the budget, there will be two public meetings.

The meetings will begin with a presentation and will allow for citizen participation. It will be followed by an open house that allows citizens to speak personally with commissioners. County staff and administrators will be present to assist with questions.
