Obama Comes to Tampa Thursday

The campaign is calling the event a “grassroots rally,” but has released few other details.

President Barack Obama kicks off a two-day whirlwind campaign tour this Wednesday with stops in six battleground states, including one in Tampa.

Dubbed the “America Forward!” tour, the campaign blitz is designed to help the president reach “as many voters as possible about the critical choice in this election -- moving America forward toward an economy built to last with a strong middle class versus going back to the same policies that crashed our economy in the first place,” a campaign media release states.

The tour starts in Iowa on Oct. 24 and includes rallies in Denver and Las Vegas that day. On Thursday, Obama will appear in Tampa before making stops in other states.

The Tampa event is described as a “grassroots rally.” The campaign has released no other details about the appearance here, but says they are forthcoming.

It is unclear at this point if tickets will be available for the Tampa rally or if it will be a private event. The campaign also has not released a location for the rally.

The President's visit comes on the heels of The Tampa Tribune's endorsement of challenger Gov. Mitt Romney for president.

"President Obama may have good intentions, but he is simply taking the nation in the wrong direction," the newspaper's editorial board wrote. "Seasoned executive Romney would come to office ready to put the country on the course to more freedom and prosperity."

The Tampa Bay Times, however, has officially endorsed President Obama.

"We wish the economic recovery was more vigorous, and we would like the president to present a sharper vision for a second term," the Times editorial board wrote in its endorsement. "But Obama has capably steered the nation through an incredibly difficult period at home and abroad, often with little help from Congress. The next four years will not be easy for whoever occupies the Oval Office, but Obama has been tested by harsh circumstance and proven himself worthy of a second term."

RD, have you read any of the other "disgusting" barbs written on here? Or is it because you have issues yourself, you project them onto other people. You are right about the intensity that I made on here and choice of words. I am deeply sorry for that, but there are people on here that offended me. Now you getting into personal accusations about my employers, and church makes you twice as bad writing material on here. Yes, I will be more selective as to what I say, but I hope you have read what your friends on your side wrote also. I became infuriated with the postings of "stench" referring to Obama, and a host of other unnecessary barbs that were written on this blog, but I take yours the most personal because you have entered an area where you should not have gone. That being said, I will remove myself from this horrid blog and converse with intelligent people outside of here. Not the accusatory one's who attack people who are attacked by your so called friends.

I will stay on! I want to apologize to anyone on here if in fact I have offended in any way in response to "stench" remarks regarding Obama's coming to Tampa. I bought into the name calling and distasteful responding which is unlike me and "out of character". I don't hate anyone, including Gov Romney or any Right Wing person. I disagree with their philosophies and tactics. My "choice of words were perhaps not the best and I in retrospect should have been more diplomatic as other should have also.. That being said, RD I apologize to with exception of his or her personal attacks to me.I will "rise above that".You don't know me other than my posts here. I had seen awful commentary and "stench" remarks about Obama which infuriated me. Opposing opinions that are intellectually based, I do respect. I have read some great comments from both sides which were interesting and presented a lot of thought. Thank you for those comments from the Right and Left. I wouldn't blast anyone on here to the extent of RD however. Me? I have a MA in Music Education, and also worked and coached golf for children on "The First Tee". I love people and America.I do go to Church and actively participate. I have taught in many classrooms over time in CT. I posted this because I was made out to be this "monster" and feel that my personal integrity was attacked. This won't be tolerated by me after all I have contributed to society in a positive light!

Michael D and Flgal4757, you have convinced me. Thanks for the calming comments about the role of political parties and media in encouraging those who spout nonsense.

I think that this election is about is preserving this Country and hope either Romney or Obama does the right things including Congress. This involves economic issues,International,Ethical, etc. To me it should be a Bi-Partisanship effort. Congress shouldn't vote "no" because the President is Democrat or the other way around. This is what bothers me the most in our current situation. Many Bills that would have helped better America was "knocked down" by the GOP Congress who covered the veto. It was a partisan thing rather than a "what's right" thing! I on the other hand wasn't thrilled about Obama's Cabinet with exception of Hillary and Biden. In some ways, the others in the Cabinet slowed down the process of recovery in addition to cleaning up the mess George Bush left us from 2000' to 2008'. No matter who gets in, we must hold our administration "accountable" by being relentless in writing to our State elected officials.I hope everyone is well on this beautiful day. TTYL

Hey guys I came across an article in my old hometown paper that really was unbiased and laid out Romneys record for the 4 yrs he ran our state. I hope all of you will read it before you vote, whether you have decided who you are voting for or not. It is lengthy but comes from a reputable paper that would be sued if the facts were not true.. As for politicians being in the banks and pharmaceuticals pockets I think you will find the Bristol Myers job info near the end quite interesting. That was a company that Romney brags about that he brought to Mass and helped to bring jobs to our state. Enjoy the read and no matter what your decision be sure to vote. This election is very important! http://www.bostonglobe.com/business/2012/09/05/governor-romney-faced-similar-economic-situation-obama-with-similar-results/cfq5gCjleJzD1uJhnxrPYN/story.html
