Historic Dunedin Estate for Sale: $1.4 Million

A Victorian home that is more than a century old is on the market. Does anyone know its history?

A 1900 waterfront masnion – with rare hearts of pine floors and original handcarved features – is for sale in Dunedin. The asking price is $1.4 million.

Does anyone know the back story of this historic home at 937 Victoria Dr.? (See the photos of the mansion, courtesy of AOL Real Estate.)

Lovingly restored, the 10-bedroom Victorian home has retained its early Florida style and features, which would be hard to find among any of the grand old estates still standing in the Sunshine State. They include working transom windows, carved stair rails, detailed woodwork and cast-iron bath tubs.

The property, like the house, reveals its history among the tall old oaks and pines. The house sits on 1.5 acres, with spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico and Honeymoon Island. The property includes nearly 2.5 acres of submerged land and a long dock.

I love this home and its location! When did this house go on the market?
Linda Hersey April 17, 2013 at 11:06 PM
The listing says 625 days! I wonder if that could be right.

It is not on the MLS (multiple listing service) with Pinellas Realtor Association.

I have had the honor of being at this home on grounds and first floor. Truly is an amazing home. I walked in the front door and could feel a warm comforting feeling I still can not explain. I later learned who the original owners were and understood the feeling of warmth. Family were missionaries in late 1800's. Love this home.. Great place for weddings, amazing sunsets.

The pictures do not do it justice. Staircase, fireplaces and wood work true craftsmanship. Stain glass window on staircase landing puts off warm welcome lights.

I had the opportunity to view this home several years ago when the Mac Duggal family who built it was interested in selling it to someone who would restore it rather than tear it down. Since I have experience in restoration this would be a real treat, the house was at the time very sound and would have been a true treasure restored. Unfortunately two problems stood in my way Lots of money and the family was very emotional about their house wether to keep it or sell it for many years. The house did finally sell last year, friends of the new owners were in my downtown business last month they told me that work was soon going to start on the house.

We sold it last year hoping it would be restored. Seems AOL Real Estate is liberal using and taking credit for our photos. See the info on our site: http://www.sunbayassociates.com/Property/937-Victoria-Drive-Dunedin-Florida
