Embattled Schools Superintendent Offers Resignation

An attorney for Julie Janssen has sent a resignation offer to the Pinellas County School Board.

Pinellas County Schools Superintendent Julie Janssen may not be with the school district much longer.

Janssen has had her attorney draft and send a resignation offer to the Pinellas County School Board. The letter was received today by the school board, according to Pinellas County Schools spokeswoman Andrea Zahn. 

In the offer, Janssen would resign effective Sept. 2. The letter states, "In exchange for the Superintendent's resignation, the Board will make the payments of salary and benefits as required in 'School Board Release from the Agreement Without Cause.' "

School board members have expressed their concerns over Janssen's job performance and had scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday to discuss the matter.
