The game marked the team's 50th anniversary and its second win of the season.

Dunedin used a pounding running attack throughout the game, but it was a screen pass to Shaquille Dixon that proved to be the play of the game.

After the Gladiators put their first points on the board in the fourth quarter, the Falcons took the ball on their own 23-yard line with just over five minutes to play.

With the momentum in Gibbs' favor it was important to eat up some minutes on the clock. Two running plays later the Falcons were left with a third-and-five.

Falcons quarterback Anthony Diviney disguised the screen pass perfectly, and Shaquille Dixon broke a number of tackles racing inside the Gladiator territory.

From there, the Falcons were able to run the clock down, creating a failed Gladiator Hail Mary pass from their own goal line on the final play.

Dunedin threw the ball only six times during the game, but ran 48 running plays.

had another outstanding game, running for 100 yards on 14 carries, including 22- and 27-yard scampers.

Diviney picked up another 75 yards on 12 keepers from the shotgun formation. Dixon was the workhorse carrying the ball 21 times for 65 yards.

Aside from Dixon's big catch-and-run in the fourth quarter, he also made a circus-like one-handed grab for a 26-yard gain just before halftime, setting up one of field goals.

Aloizakis hit field goals of 31, 27 and 42 yards on the night.

The Falcons defense attacked the Gibbs backfield with plenty of blitzing all night, countering their greatest asset: wide receiver Gary Simon.

The highly-recruited Simon caught just two passes for 14 yards and two rushes for minus 3 yards.

The 2-3 Falcons will be home against Spoto High School next Friday (Oct. 7). Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
