Sheriff's Office Awards 3 College-Bound Dunedin Students

Three Dunedin High seniors received $2,750 from a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office scholarship award on Wednesday night.

Three seniors at Dunedin High get a little extra money toward college for their involvement with the S.A.D.D. Club (Students Against Destructive Decisions).

Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputies Jim Miller and Wally Bonasoro, school resource officers and S.A.D.D. Club sponsors, awarded $2,750 in scholarship funds during a ceremony Wednesday night to writers of the top essays in a contest in which students were asked to describe how they could keep from making destructive decisions in their lives.

The top four essays were selected by an anonymous panel. Awards were also based on the student's academic performance, discipline, attendance and financial need, according to a sheriff's news release. The top three essays were awarded scholarships.
