Superintendent to Get a Job Review Aug. 23

The board set the deadline for Julie Janssen to fix specific problems or face a negative review and perhaps termination.

A special Pinellas County School Board meeting is set to discuss the future of Superintendent Julie Janssen.

Janssen has been given until Aug. 23 to fix administrative problems identified by the board. She meets with officials Aug. 23 at 10 a.m.

At a June 24 board meeting, members told Janssen that she was spending too much time tracking negative publicity; responding poorly to crisis situations; and not finishing strategic planning by a board-set deadline.

A negative report by the Board on Aug. 23 may precipitate more drastic action, including Janssen's termination.

The special meeting will be held in the conference hall of the administration building, 301 Fourth St. SW, Largo.
