Toronto's Adam Lind Leads D-Jays To Victory

Blue Jays even series with Cardinals in 5-0 victory.

The Dunedin Blue Jays evened out their four-game series with the Palm Beach Cardinals Wednesday (June 1) with a 5-0 win.

First baseman Adam Lind led the D-Jays in his first major appearance since May 7, when he left the game with tightness in his back. He has been rehabbing at the Englebert Complex and batted in only two simulated games earlier this week.

Lind doubled down the line in left and beat the throw to second, demonstrating great hustle in the third inning. In the fifth inning, he got an RBI with a line drive single to right. In the seventh, he singled up the middle.

Lind was drafted in 2004 (83rd overall) and played his first year of pro ball for the D-Jays. The Muncie, Ind., native batted .313 in 126 games and was a Florida State League All-Star.

He is expected to be with the D-Jays for the rest of this series before heading back to the big club on Saturday.

Ryan Tepera, 23, who is generally considered the Jays fifth starter, was in total control of the Cardinals hitters. The Sam Houston State alum, went seven scoreless innings, giving up only three hits.

The Jays (29-24) and Cardinals (21-32) meet again on Thursday (June 2). Deck McGuire, (3-3) with an ERA of .270, is the probable starter for the Jays.
