Back-To-Back-To-Back Home Runs Lead Jays Past Hammerheads

D-Jays defeat Jupiter 8-3 in Sunday matinee.

Kevin Ahrens, Brad Glenn and Jon Talley hit consecutive home runs in the Blue Jay half of the fifth Sunday to sail past the Hammerheads 8-3.  A.J. Jimenez followed them with a double off the top of the right field wall.

Assistant General Mananger Janette Donoghue said she can't remember a hitting spree like this.

Brad Glenn has been hiting bombs. In Saturday's game (May 14), Glenn's home run sailed over the trees in left. Sunday the ball flew over the back drop in center. The Blue Jays bull pen said it landed around some 470 feet.

After the game, Glenn, an Arizona graduate, said that he gives a great deal of credit to his hitting coaches in Lansing last year and to Ralph Dickenson of the D-Jays this year.

Glen opened the season hitting four home runs to the opposite field and dominated the opposing  pitching. Word of his hitting habits spread through the league and adjustments were made after a few weeks in which the average and home run production dropped. In the last six days, he has hit four home runs.

Glenn's progression from Arizona to professional baseball has been right on line: Lansing (A), then Dunedin (Advanced A) and many believe he will end up in  New Hampshire (AA) before this season ends.

Starter Nestor Molina, who could very well be a Fisher Cat (AA) soon, gave up three runs on 7 hits in five complete innings. Matt Wright, Frank Gailey and Wes Etheridge shut the Hammerheads out in the final four innings.

The Hammerheads (Marlins) and Jays resume their four-game series this evening (May 16). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at .

Correction: The Dunedin Blue Jays report an 8-3 victory over the Hammerheads.
