D-Jays Hanging Onto Playoff Hopes

Jays aren't eliminated yet.

The Dunedin Jays are in the home stretch of the Florida State League's first half.

The Dunedin Jays enter play Wednesday (June 8) with 12 games remaining.

The FSL divides the season, with the winners of the FSL North and South divisions advancing into the playoffs.

The Jays have the third best record in the FSL (31-27). They trail only the Clearwater Threshers and the Daytona Cubs (42-16), whom they are behind by 11 games. Any combination of Jays losses and Cubs victories adding to two will eliminate the Jays.

The Daytona Cubs have had an outstanding first half, but the Jays would not be clawing for a chance at the playoffs if it hadn't been for a poor start (one win in their first nine games) and inability to beat the Clearwater Threshers (two wins in 10 games).

The Threshers are only five games behind the Cubs and begin a huge three-game series in Daytona on June 11.

The Jays could become spoilers as they entertain the Threshers for a three-game series starting on June 14.

The Brevard County Manatees host the Jays on Wednesday and Thursday before the teams return Friday (June 10) for a 7 p.m. start at .
