Lawrie was traded to Toronto for pitcher Shaun Marcum on December 6, 2010. The six footer was selected 16th overall by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Langley, British Columbia. His minor league numbers were not overly impressive until this year. Before the injury he was hitting .354 with 15 home runs.
