D-Jays Stunned By Cubs 4-Run Rally

Daytona scores four in the eighth eliminating the Jays with a 4-3 win, ending Dunedin's Florida State League championship hopes.

The Dunedin Blue Jays needed just six outs to advance to the Florida State League finals and a chance to win the title for the first time in their history.

Asher Wojciechowski worked five scoreless innings and left-hander Frank Gailey shut the Cubs down in innings six and seven.

Manager Clayton McCullough elected to stay with Gailey for the eighth. However the move backfired and before the dust had settled the Cubs plated four runs on six hits including a walk.

Gailey loaded the bases before he was pulled for the Jays top reliever over the last month, Aaron Loup. The Louisiana native gave up three hits and a sacrifice fly before veteran Vince Bongiavanni finished up allowing another RBI single. The inning ended with Justin Jackson snaring a line drive in right-field and throwing out a base runner at home.

The FSL home-run leader Brad Glenn looked like he had sealed the victory with a two run blast in the top of the eighth.

Need to Know: The St. Lucie Mets will be the Cubs opponent in the FSL finals after defeating the Bradenton Marauders 4-3 in ten innings.

2011 D-Jay pitcher Chad Jenkins was brilliant in Double A New Hampshire's play-off opener. The 20th overall pick in 2009 First-Year Player Draft, allowed only four hits while striking out nine in seven scoreless innings.
