D-Jays Swept In Doubleheader Against Lakeland

John Talley homers twice in game No. 2 but Jays lose 9-5. The loss puts them just one slim game ahead in the North Division.

A solo homer from Langley BC native Jordan Lennerton lifted the Lakeland Flying Tigers to a 1-0 victory in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader (Aug. 30).

Tigers lefthander Jared Wesson, 25, held the D-Jays to just two hits. Wesson picked up his 14th win of the season. Just five days earlier, he limited the Jays to just one run on three hits in a 2-1 Tigers victory.

Jays pitcher Casey Lawrence was the tough-luck loser. He allowed only five hits but lost for the first time as a D-Jay in four starts.

Need to Know:

  • The Brevard County Manatees defeated the Clearwater Threshers 1-0, enabling the D-Jays to hold a slim, one-game lead in the North Division. The two teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader but rain caused the second game to be postponed.
  • The Tampa Yankees were unable to play either game in Daytona because of the weather and now trail the D-Jays by just a game and a half.
