Falcons Baseball Breeze Past Osceola 8-4

Dunedin jumped out to an early lead and never let up.

Dunedin High School's varsity baseball team breezed past the Osceola Warriors on Wednesday in what was a hotly contested non-district game.

Both teams are poised to meet again in regional competition. The Warriors began the game with undefeated 8-0 record.

The Falcons, who are now 9-1, defeated the Warriors 8-4.

Falcons sophomore Aaron Chesson was the starting pitcher. He struck out five batters, holding Osceola scoreless for four innings.

Dunedin scored five runs against Osceola's Taylor Layner, mostly from walks and hitting batters. Alex Libby hit a little blooper between the second baseman and advancing center fielder, bringing in two runs that inning.

Osceola's pitcher didn't do much better he returned to the mound for the second inning.

Dunedin was able to score two more runs before Mike Tipton knocked one to the center field wall off Osceola's relief pitcher Rickey Whiteman, pushing Dunedin ahead 8-0 in the fourth inning.

“Tipton’s the guy that stirs our drink,” Falcons Coach Tom Hilbert said.

Tipton ended up with two hits and walked twice.

Osceola finally came alive during the seventh inning with four back-to-back singles against Dunedin's third reliever Ben Emery, tightening the score to 8-4.

Dunedin moved to 9-1 and goes up against Tarpon Springs 0n Friday, March 11. Dunedin defeated Tarpon Springs 10-0 during their last match-up on Feb. 22.
