Falcons Basketball Closes Season, Wrestlers Prepare for Regionals

A wrap-up of Dunedin sports.

Varsity Boys' Basketball

Last game: closed the season Feb. 8 with a loss to East Lake 34-68. The Falcons close a tough season with a mark of 0-20.

  • Sharrod Harriel led the scoring with 12 points.
  • Kenny Bolden was the second leading scorer. He put 9 points on the board.

Varsity Wrestling

Last Meet: Dunedin High took the district wrestling title Saturday. that Dunedin wrestlers Alec Hersh (103-pound weight class), Shaun Shakoor (112), Marc Allison (119), Alex Lebhar (130), Kane Plate (135), Austin Prince (140), Chris Winowich (152), Kyle Goodnow (160), Mike Hogan (171), R.J. Luth (215) all had district title matches. 

Hogan, Luth, Goodnow, Prince and Plate took home champion medals.

Looking ahead: Dunedin High moves into regional action at South Florida Community College in Sebring Friday, Feb. 11. Meets will continue into Saturday, Feb. 12. Weigh-ins are at 10 a.m. Friday. Matches start at noon. Saturday weigh-ins are at 8 a.m. Matches start at 10 a.m. Finals are at 6 p.m. Admission is $6.

Anticipated matchups: Wrestling powerhouses to watch for in the regional competition are Springstead, Lake Gibson and Oveido.
