Jays Rally But Lose In Extra Innings

D-Jays pitchers surrender 17 hits to Clearwater Threshers.

The Clearwater Threshers defeated the Jays 13-12 Tuesday in 10 innings.

This 3-hour, 40-minute marathon will go down as one of the wildest games of the season. The Jays deserve a lot of credit for never giving up.

Down 9-1 entering the bottom of the fifth, the Blue Jays would rally and eventually tie it in the ninth, with a pair of singles and three-hit batsman.

Threshers outfielder Leandro Castro's home run off the the fourth Jays pitcher Dumas Garcia (2-2) would end the Jays hopes.

Jays pitcher Asher Wojciechowski (4-5) lasted only four innings, giving up seven earned runs on 11 hits. In his last outing against Clearwater (June 4), the 22-year-old gave up five earned runs on 11 hits in 4 and 1/3 innings.

The Jays (35-30) and Threshers (39-26) resume their three game series Wednesday, June 15, at . First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Notes: The D-Jays Kevin Nolan was sent back to Lansing today, after going 14 for 28 since being called up. His replacement in the second spot of the order, Ryan Schimpf, went 3-5 with two walks and a home run on Tuesday. In the last nine games, that position in the batting order has gone 17 for 33.
