Jays Rally For 10-5 Victory

The D-Jays broke a 3-3 tie with six runs in the sixth inning.

The Dunedin Blue Jays scored six runs in the sixth inning defeating the Daytona Cubs 10-5 on Sunday (Aug. 28).

The six-run inning included doubles from Brad Glenn and A.J. Jimenez. It marked the third time in the series that the D-Jays scored six in an inning.

Third baseman Kevin Ahrens had a big day at the plate. He lined a double and two singles to leftfield. The former first-round selection for the Toronto Blue Jays (2007) pounded out three hits on Saturday and two in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader.

Carlos Villanueva, 27, started for the D-Jays. He pitched to five batters in the first inning, giving up a single and an unearned run. The Toronto Blue Jays righthander is rehabbing a strained right forearm.

Asher Wojciechowski worked seven and a third impressive innings behind Villanueva. The righthander allowed four earned runs while striking out six and he did not issue a walk.

The 22-year-old Citadel alum picked up his 10th win and lowered his ERA in his past 10 games to 3.50.

On Deck: Dunedin and Daytona complete their four-game series on Monday at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Due to last Wednesday's rain out, probable starter is long reliever Scott Gracey.

Need to Know: With the win on Sunday, the D-Jays remain in first in the North Division, holding on to a two-and-a-half game lead over both Clearwater and Tampa.

The Jays have eight games remaining, including four to close out the season against the Clearwater Threshers.
