4-Time MLB All-Star Joins D-Jays Roster

Toronto Blue Jays star shortstop Jose Reyes and pitcher Brandon Morrow are slated to make cameos for the Dunedin Blue Jays.

A four-time Major League Baseball All-Star Jose Reyes makes a guest appearance in the Dunedin Blue Jays game Monday against the Tampa Yankees.

The shortstop, on the 60-day disabled list for a sprained ankle, also joins Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Brandon Morrow, on the 15-day disabled list for a troublesome forearme, as part of a temporary rehab assignment in Dunedin at an opportune time for the Minor League D-Jays, a team spokesperson says.

With only three games remaining in the first part of the season, the D-Jays hold a half-game lead in the Florida State League's North Division.

Toronto's Reyes is rehabilitating an ankle sprain from sliding into second base on a steal attempt April 12. He played in a simulated game June 14 in Dunedin, with two innings in the field and three plate appearances, the Associated Press reports. Morrow is struggling with his forearm and is set to throw in a simulated game Monday, according to reports on ESPN.com

Reyes, who came from an off-season trade with the Miami Marlins, won the National League batting title in 2011 and finished seventh or better in stolen base rankings every season since 2005, according to a D-Jays news release. He hit .395 with five RBIs and five stolen bases in his first 10 games for Toronto, the team reports.

The D-Jays will start Austin M. Bibens-Dirkx, a right-handed pitcher from University of Portland, against Tampa's Bryan Mitchell, a righty from Reidsville, NC, on Monday.
