McGuire Grinds Out D-Jays Victory

McGuire strikes out middle of the Manatees order with one run across and two runners in scoring position.

D-Jays pitcher Deck McGuire looked like a seasoned veteran during Wednesday's June 8 victory against the Brevard County Manatees (4-3).

The Manatees had the 21-year-old on the ropes in the top of the fifth. McGuire proceeded to strike out the middle of the Manatees order with one run already across and two runners in scoring position.

What made this even more impressive was two of the three strikeouts were against Manatees Kristopher Davis and Riley Kjeldgaard, who hit back-to-back home runs off him in the second inning.

D-Jays first baseman Kevin Nolan, a recent call-up from the Lansing Lugnuts, delivered the big blow of the night with a two-run homer, his first of the year.
