Ochinko and Contreras Go Back to Back In D-Jays Win

Six Jays selected to play in Florida State League All-Star Game.

Dunedin Blue Jays defeated the Palm Beach Cardinals 6-5 on Friday (June 3). The win allowed the Jays to gain a split in the four-game series.

The D-Jays Sean Ochinko (with five season home runs) and Ivan Contreras (with one) led the way with back-to-back home runs in the third inning. A.J. Jimenez (with three) followed with a solo home run in the fourth.

Contrereas, who has been critized for his weak hitting this year (.184), completed the series with five hits in his last seven at bats.

Toronto's Adam Lind was hitless at the plate. He played first base. Lind was undecided after the game whether or not he would return to the Major League club or play a full nine-inning game with the D-Jays in Clearwater on Saturday.

The light-hitting Cardinals jumped all over starter Chad Jenkins with four runs on 11 hits in six innings. Ace reliever Wes Etheridge struggled in the ninth, allowing three hits and a run before striking out Xavier Scruggs to end the game.
