Fireworks Make-Up Shows for Dunedin's Fourth of July Rainout

The weather just would not cooperate for Dunedin's annual Hometown USA fireworks display July 4. But not to worry, there's more fireworks in your future.

It wasn't long after the end of the Dunedin Blue Jays game that the clouds let loose a torrential downpour over the stadium, much to the waiting crowd's dismay.

Fans went under cover, trying to stay dry and hopeful the storm would pass quickly. Flash flooding in the fireworks staging area caused officials to call off the entire Fourth of July fireworks show just before it was scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m.

A make-up, post-game fireworks display is scheduled for July 25 at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, after the D-Jays' 6:30 p.m. face the Jupiter Hammerheads. Fireworks will follow a post-game concert from Pitbull Toddler, Janette Donoghue, general manager, said late July 4. 

If you just can't wait that long for fireworks. The Clearwater Threshers have a post-game fireworks show planned Friday, July 5, after their game against the D-Jays. Game starts 6:30 p.m. at Bright House Field.

On the bright side, at least D-Jays fans got a good "baseball" version of a fireworks show. The Dunedin Blue Jays lit up the scoreboard with a ninth-inning two-run single to win the game from behind.
