Flooding Subsides, Edgewater Drive Reopens

Tropical Storm Debby closed Edgewater Drive and flooded many other streets in Dunedin Sunday. They have all since been reopened.

Update, Monday 12:25 a.m.: Edgewater Drive is now open to north and southbound traffic.

Officials closed Edgewater Drive to north and southbound traffic from around Main Street to Union Street on Sunday because of flooding caused by Tropical Storm Debby.

The Intracoastal waterway is flooding onto the street.

  • Douglas Avenue (cleared as of 12:20 a.m., Monday)
  • Neighborhood streets surrounding Douglas Avenue
  • Causeway Boulevard (cleared as of 10 p.m., Sunday)
  • Causeway Plaza (cleared as of 10 p.m., Sunday)
  • Weaver Park

Pinellas County officials are urging motorists to stay off the roads and not to drive through areas of standing or moving water or areas of unknown depth.

Rain is expected to continue throughout the night, and into Monday. Flooding is not expected to subside soon. Officials are urging the public to follow local news for breaking updates.
