Weekend in Dunedin: Kids Art Fest, Free Live Music, Baseball Playoffs

Dunedin Falcons Football v. Seminole

  • When: Friday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: Dunedin High School, 1651 Pinehurst Rd.
  • Why Go? Cheer on the Falcons as they kick off at their first home game of the high school football season. If last week's showdown at Dixie Hollins High is any indication, fans can remain hopeful for some nail-biting action yet to come from these young men.

Starlight Concert Series: Fast Lane

  • When: Friday, Sept. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m.
  • Where: Highlander Park, 903 Michigan Blvd.
  • Why Go? What's not to enjoy during an evening of free live music under the stars. Concessions are available, but feel free to bring a picnic basket, blanket and lawn chairs.

Florida State League Championship Comes to Dunedin

  • When: Friday Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7; both games start at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, 373 Douglas Ave.
  • Why Go? The opportunity to watch the best in Florida State League baseball doesn't come along very often. The best team from the North and South divisions face off in a best-of-five series that kicks off with the first two games in Dunedin. 

Kid's ART Fest 2013 with Dunedin Kiwanis

  • When: Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Where: Dunedin Fine Art Center, 1143 Michigan Blvd.
  • Why Go? This FREE children's event features a new multicultural-themed and hands-on exhibit, games, food, live music (including a kid's drum circle), an aerial display by Dance and Circus Arts of Tampa Bay, and "paint-a-car," in which kids get to paint designs on a real vehicle.

7th Annual Heart & Hope Statewide Family Conference 

  • When: Saturday, Sept. 7 at 8 a.m.
  • Where: Dunedin Highland Middle School, 70 Patricia Ave.
  • Why Go? Family members, educators or professionals who work in or are touched by someone with disabilities or autism may wish to attend the FREE conference. Aside from all the great info and resources you'll discover, you could win a 32-inch flat screen LCD HDTV.
