Volunteer Spirit Can Fizzle After the Holidays
Those who give their time in December often don't have it to spare in January.
The close of the holiday season means back to work for lots of volunteers. But for many, that work is to put food on their own tables rather than to help others. Many use vacation time from their employers to spend with family and help in the community around Thanksgiving and Christmas. So free time for volunteering often fizzles after New Year's Day fireworks. "A lot of people take off for family vacations and work vacations around the holidays and want to help.
