The report for August 2012 indicates that reported crime increased slightly all around during August compared to July, although it is still down for the year. Data shows that larceny spiked in August. A majority of those incidents happened from people's cars, according to the data. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is reporting that Dunedin crime is down 12 percent for July, compared to June 2012. Burglaries and motor vehicle thefts increased, while larceny dipped slightly. Of the burglary incidents, most happened at people's homes. About $44,500 in property was stolen, for which three arrests were made. In total, 78 adults and five juveniles were arrested for various Dunedin crimes in July, according to the Sheriff's data.
