Suncoast Animal League's Dogtoberfest 2012 at Highlander Park featured a doggie costume contest, talent contest, running of the wieners and more on Saturday.
There was a whole lotta tail waggin' goin' on Saturday at Dogtoberfest. Suncoast Animal League's fifth annual event was held Nov. 10 at Dunedin's Highlander Park. It featured a doggie costume contest, talent contest, running of the wieners and lots of pet adoptions. "Our sponsors were incredible and to adopt out 53 animals at this event makes our six months of planning very worthwhile. We look forward to the same kind of success at our February 16, 2013, Mutt March," said Rick Chaboudy, executive director. Dunedin's dogs are taking over Highlander Park for Dogtoberfest on Saturday. Bring the dogs and lawn chairs for a day of family-friendly activities, including a doggie costume contest, a pet costume contest, a wiener dog race, pet vendors, live music and, of course, a beer garden. The event is free to attend, but a $3 parking fee and beer money goes to Suncoast Animal League. Cruises and jewelry will be raffled. Nearly 50 nonprofit animal rescue groups will have dogs ready for adoption at the Nov. 10 event in Dunedin.
If you're considering adding a dog to your family, you might want to attend the Suncoast Animal League's "Dogtoberfest" coming up Saturday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Highlander Park in Dunedin. This year, organizers are promising the biggest adopt-a-thon ever, featuring nearly 50 nonprofit animal rescue groups that will have dogs ready for adoption. Some groups are breed-specific, so if you're contemplating adopting a particular breed of dog, they can answer questions about personalities and traits which can help you decide which dog is right for you.
